Meet the Principal

Meet Our Principal

I have proudly served as the principal of Van Rensselaer Elementary for the past 11 years. Over the past 21 years in the Rensselaer City School District, I have been fortunate to work with the students in several different roles. In the classroom, I enjoyed teaching fourth grade, fifth grade, and helping a variety of grade levels as the AIS Math teacher. As a coach, it was quite enjoyable coaching basketball and soccer at the varsity level. All of these opportunities were positive experiences that will never be forgotten.

My educational background all took place through the College of St. Rose located in Albany. It includes a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, a Masters of Education in Teacher Education, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Educational Leadership. While this educational journey was fulfilling and rewarding, we all know the value of being lifelong learners.

I am blessed to have a wonderful family with my wife, Rebecca.  Alyssa, Denver, Addison, and Oslo mean everything to us. I have the same goals for them that we do for your students here at school. We want them to be polite, work hard, and have fun which is where our school vision comes from. Everyone here at school works diligently to help the students build a foundation that will help prepare them to lead successful and productive lives. It is my honor and privilege to be a small part in that process.
